A little about research
This will be a short post just as an idea for us, teacher of the Federal Institutes in Brazil.
The Federal Institutes in Brazil have some area of expertise, in Confresa this area is basically the Agricultural and Food Science. However, the FIs have common core teachers as history, math, chemistry, who can understand these topics but are not experts in them.
Who said that students from the technical course in food science or agriculture should only do research and extension in this area?
We often see teachers guiding research projects that are not in their area to help students "earn research scholarships."
Perhaps this is because this teacher does not find a way to start developing projects in your area.
What can we do in this case?
Recently I've met a department called Floworks. Floworks is a research environment where teachers "register" their projects, their demands and the students register to participate in these projects in groups and thus try to solve the demands of teachers.
Floworks offers learning environment that is really very inspiring, some tools that students and teachers may need to develop the projects and professional instruction, especially in education, marketing and business.
The idea would be to develop something in our Campus, with the collaboration of the Research and Extension coordination.
What would it take to start thinking in that situation? An environment, some small resources (computer and office material) and people interested in helping, collaborate, contribute, add up.
Something simple that can help both our students and our teachers and, if successful, can help all IFMT because it is much easier for a teacher to work in their area.
We can also assist teachers to find other teachers or students to meet other students to build projects, do research and extension.
Note that I am not wanting to discourage teachers to guide work outside their area of expertise but encourage teachers to work with what they really like and have experience.
Um pouco para a pesquisa e extensão
Este será um post breve apenas como ideia para nós nos IFs.
Nos IFs temos a questão da área de expertise, no caso de Confresa esta área é basicamente a área Agropecuária e Agroindústria. Porém, nos IFs temos professores do núcleo comum, que podem entender mas não são experts nas áreas técnicas.
Quem disse que alunos do curso técnico em alimentos ou agropecuária só devem fazer pesquisa e extensão nesta área?
Vemos muitas vezes os professores orientando trabalhos que não são de sua área para ajudar alunos a "ganharem bolsas".
Talvez isso aconteça por que este professor não encontra uma forma de começar a desenvolver projetos em sua área.
Conheci aqui em TAMK o Floworks. Floworks é um ambiente de pesquisa, onde os professores "cadastram" seus projetos, suas demandas e os alunos se cadastram para participar nestes projetos em grupos e, assim, tentar resolver as demandas dos professores.
Floworks oferece o ambiente de aprendizagem que é realmente muito inspirador, algumas ferramentas que os alunos ou professores podem precisar para desenvolver os projetos e instruções profissionais, principalmente na área de educação, marketing e negócios.
A ideia seria desenvolver algo parecido em nossos Campus, juntamente com as Coordenações de Pesquisa e Extensão.
O que seria necessário para começar a pensar nesta hipótese? Um ambiente, alguns pequenos recursos (computador e material para escritório) e pessoas interessadas em ajudar, colaborar, contribuir, somar.
Algo simples que pode ajudar tanto nossos alunos como nossos professores e, em caso de sucesso, pode ajudar todo IFMT, pois é muito mais fácil para um professor trabalhar na sua área de atuação.
Podemos também auxiliar professores a encontrar outros professores, ou até alunos encontrar outros alunos para montar projetos, fazer pesquisa e extensão.
Vale ressaltar que não estou querendo desestimular professores a orientar trabalhos fora de sua área de atuação e sim estimular os professores a trabalharem com aquilo que realmente gostam e possuem experiência.
